A collection of items on my dawn walks around Bristol Docks that inspired various disassociated photos, videos and thoughts.
ONLY THE LONELY
APOPHENIA
The apparent tendency to mistakenly perceive meaningful connections between unrelated things. The term was coined by psychiatrist Klaus Conrad in his 1958 publication on the beginning stages ....of schizophrenia! I found the rubbish left by partygoers at dawn around Bristol Docks quite inspiring. I think these shots led to my "foundling" series. I'm sure the council rubbish collectors agreed with Klaus Conrad when they saw me hunched over with my camera in this damp wasteland whistling Ennio Morricone!
HIDDEN GARDENS
I started to notice rather beautiful little minature gardens growing in the protection of old metal posts and ruts. They often sprouted a complex ecosystem in the midst of a tarmac wasteland

GHOSTS
In the silence and rythmn of walking the same route every day I started to notice things I had hitherto overlooked
Fossil footprints of a dog in ancient concrete. I imagined the comedy of the owner chasing the dog, both long dead, the ghosts of that moment trapped in these footprints I had hitherto passed over hundreds of times without noticing
Was this caused by weather or malignity? A mysterious object long forgotten
RUBBISH
ENJOYING THE MUNDANE
WEIGHLESS BUCKETS
BROKEN DOCK. WITH PUBS CLOSED THE DOCKS WERE A PARTY ZONE.
(The public in normal hours never saw this. It was cleaned up before 6am)

On the side of the black metal plate of the Grain Barge Boat. I've seen worse paintings! (You have to be an artist to get the title. P.S.I like Larry Poons)
